The Open University of Mauritius hosted “Rencontres Interculturelles” on 22 March 2024 in its Lecture Theatre, Reduit. The chief guest was Dr. J.M.G. Le Clézio, Nobel Laureate in Literature, 2008. Dr Le Clézio delivered a talk on “L’Interculturel, du particulier à l’universel,” offering insightful perspectives on various dimensions of cultural exchanges. His presence added depth to the discussion, demonstrating how literature can transcend cultural boundaries and foster dialogue among people worldwide.
The event featured other presentations on intercultural issues. Dr. Shi Xuejing from Nanjing University (China) presented “La Traduction comme force constructrice dans l’œuvre d’Aimé Césaire,”. Dr. Céline Ramsamy-Giancone from the University of La Réunion talked on “L’Interculturel, contacts des religions et migrations,” enriching discussions on cultural, religious interactions, and migration phenomena.
