Public Speaking Essentials
(Non-Examinable)
The Open University of Mauritius (OU) has developed Employability Skills Courses that allow learners to acquire soft skills that are as important as academic qualifications, especially in an era of rapidly evolving knowledge.
A lot of people struggle with public speaking. The nerves take over and we can lose our train of thought. Our voices can stumble. We end up waffling. This fear largely boils down to the widespread belief that introverted people are not good public speakers. The truth is that everyone has the potential to be a good public speaker; introverted or extroverted by nature.
The good news is that you can improve your public speaking skills. It simply takes a bit of hard work and dedication on your behalf. We have designed this course to help you become a confident speaker, enabling you to engage with various audiences and overcome the fear of presentation delivery. You will learn and apply different public speaking skills in formal and informal settings, empowering you to build confidence and enhance your overall effectiveness as a public speaker.
