Note that you should add programmes in order of priority. You can add up to four (4) programmes of interest to you.<\/span><\/p>\n

For example, if you add BSc (Hons) Business Management as the first programme, it will be considered as your priority no. 1 programme, and seat shall be allocated to you for that programme as no. 1 priority, <\/span>if you are eligible<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The order or priority cannot be changed once you have saved your preferences.<\/span><\/p>\n

So, think carefully about the order of priority you are allocating to programmes you are adding.<\/span><\/p>\n

You shall receive an email confirming that the Open University of Mauritius has obtained your application and payment of your application fee.\u00a0The email contains other important information such as the date of Verification of Documents (VoD).\u00a0 The Admissions Office shall contact you for the VoD and you shall be offered a seat\u00a0<\/span>\u2013<\/b> if eligible.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Applicants from Rodrigues<\/strong> are requested to have all the required documents certified and stamped by the Rodrigues Education Commission, and have them scanned. \u00a0 The\u00a0 scanned copies will then have to be sent to the Admissions Office on <\/span>applicationdoc@open.ac.mu<\/span><\/a> with mention of your name, application code and the programme applied for (first choice).<\/span><\/p>\n

Kindly, also send us along with the duly signed application form, a scanned copy of a passport-sized photo for the issue of a learner ID Card. Note that each document should be sent as a separate attachment in one email to enable us to upload the documents on the portal.<\/span><\/p>\n

After the VoD, if you are found to be eligible, you shall be given access to register for semester modules and pay the required fees. Finally, you shall be invited to attend an Induction.<\/span><\/p>\n

Note that applying for <\/span>exemption<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>is possible only\u00a0<\/span>after you have been offered a seat<\/strong>\u00a0and during the registration phase.\u00a0 Please contact the Admissions Office <\/span>immediately<\/strong> after you have received your letter of offer to take cognizance of the established procedures in connection with module(s) exemption.<\/span><\/p>\n

Exemption from Module(s)<\/b><\/p>\n

This exemption policy outlines the principles that apply to students seeking exemption(s) in one or more modules in the programme of studies that s\/he is enrolled. Application for exemption from module(s) for the whole Programme of Studies can only be considered within three (3) weeks from the day of the Induction, by filling in the prescribed \u2018Exemption Form\u2019. Download and use the prescribed Exemption Form, accessible on the OU website, under the Exemption criteria:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

An Administrative fee of Rs2500 per module will be charged for the processing of requests for exemptions. No refund of tuition fees will be granted for exempted modules<\/span><\/p>\n

Exemption Process:<\/b><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Students are required to apply formally in writing by filling in the Exemption Form.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Students are expected to go through the criteria for exemption before submitting the exemption form.<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. A student should request exemption for one or more specific taught modules for the whole Programme of Studies, on the basis of previous qualification(s) obtained prior to the first year of studies (i.e. at application stage).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    (vi)<\/span> It is the responsibility of the student applying for exemption to obtain and submit the following:<\/span><\/p>\n

    (a) <\/span> Duly filled in Exemption Form.<\/span><\/p>\n

    (b) <\/span> Photocopies of relevant Certificates, Transcripts, Testimonials, Programme of Studies (syllabi, Programme Structure, etc).<\/span><\/p>\n

    (c) <\/span> Evidence of payment of prescribed Administrative fees for module\/s exemption.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Incomplete forms and applications <\/span>not supported<\/b> by relevant documents will not be considered.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Application for Exemption on a piece-meal basis will not be entertained.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Students are required to continue attending classes until they are notified of the decision of the Committee regarding their requests for Exemption.<\/span><\/p>\n

    It is the student\u2019s responsibility to submit Equivalence Certificate of his\/her qualification(s), from the relevant authorities, if required.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Open University may grant module exemption subject to fulfilment of the following criteria:<\/b><\/p>\n

      \n
    1. Module exemption does not apply to any top up programme\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
    2. The module from which exemption is being sought <\/span>should be the same level<\/span> as the qualification already obtained<\/span>, i.e., a module at a degree level would be considered against another relevant module already completed at a degree level.<\/span><\/li>\n
    3. The general principle for exemption would be that the Exemption Committee should be satisfied that there are no significant differences in the two syllabi in terms of level and depth of coverage and assessment.<\/span><\/li>\n
    4. Exemption would be granted for not more than 50% of the taught modules, excluding the project\/dissertation, constituting a Programme of Studies.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
    5. The qualification from which exemption is being sought should have been obtained <\/span>within 7 years of the date of application for exemption<\/span>, except for ACCA modules where it is 10 years.<\/span><\/li>\n
    6. The student must have scored at least a grade \u2018C\u2019 in the relevant module.<\/span><\/li>\n
    7. (i) Students of OU who have opted to exit at Certificate\/Diploma\/Postgraduate Diploma<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      (ii) Students who have obtained an exit certificate\/Diploma\/Postgraduate Diploma and \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 have reached the Maximum duration for their respective programme.<\/span><\/p>\n

      Should they wish to proceed to the next level, will have to submit a fresh application for the same programme, register for the semester\/s modules and pay the module\u00a0 fees, the exemption fees and then seek exemption for the modules already completed. Please note that in this case also the above criteria- 4,5 and 6 will apply. However, module\/s that have not been exempted will have to be completed by assignments and exams.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

      Note that the grade and\/or mark previously obtained for<\/span><\/p>\n

        \n
      1. all exempted OU module(s) will be considered in the computation of the Cumulative Point Average (CPA), Grade Point Average (GPA) and the Level\/Year Point Average (LPA\/YPA) to determine the student\u2019s academic standing.<\/span><\/li>\n
      2. all exempted module(s) taken\/passed from local\/international institutions (other than OU) will not be considered in the computation of the Cumulative Point Average (CPA), Grade Point Average (GPA) and the Level\/Year Point Average (LPA\/YPA) to determine the student\u2019s academic standing. Only the credits earned will be accounted for.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
